Where Did the Hiroshima Cocktail Come From?

The Hiroshima cocktail was reportedly created by Soviet bartenders in the mid-1900s as a response to the American favorite, the B-52.

Much like its inspiration, the Hiroshima is layered and designed to deliver a strong punch both visually and in taste.

The grenadine’s slow sink through the cream creates an effect that resembles a nuclear mushroom cloud, which explains the drink’s controversial name.

There are a few recipe versions out there, but this one keeps it classic, bold, and dramatic. Just the way it was meant to be.

Here's how it is done

Ingredients

120 ml ( 4 oz ) Sambuca
80 ml ( 2.66 oz ) Irish Cream
80 ml ( 2.66 oz ) Absinthe
1 dash of Grenadine

How to do it

  1. Using the Nuclear Triple Jigger, pour the Sambuca into the Mushroom Glass
  2. Slowly add the Irish Cream on top using the Disk Tail spoon’s other end to layer it.
  3. Do the same thing with the Absinthe afterwards
  4. Add a dash of grenadine
  5. Watch the amazing Hiroshima effect!

Want That “Explosion” Effect?

Here’s the trick: pour grenadine last. Since it’s denser than the other ingredients, it naturally sinks, pushing through the creamy layers to create that signature mushroom-cloud look.

Use a bar spoon to layer slowly and stay steady. A little patience makes a big visual payoff. Try it and tag us with your result!
