The Yellow Potion Cocktail – A Tropical Burst of Rum, Pineapple & Coconut

Looking for a bright, tropical cocktail to lift your mood?

The Yellow Potion delivers sunshine in a glass with white rum, pineapple, and coconut.

Whether you’re dreaming of the beach or hosting a backyard gathering, this one’s a sweet escape worth mixing.

" Yellow Potion "

What does this cocktail taste like?

The Yellow Potion may not have a long legacy like classic tiki cocktails, but it channels the same easygoing island energy.

It’s a modern twist inspired by the Painkiller, a popular tropical drink known for its rum and coconut combo.

In this version, we keep the fruity base with pineapple and orange juices, but swap out creaminess for the clean hit of coconut liqueur.

The result? A lighter, brighter blend that’s refreshingly simple but packed with feel-good flavor. Whether you’re sipping it poolside or using it to bring some summer warmth to colder days, this cocktail does what its name promises. It casts a sweet, golden spell.

Here is how you can do it yourself

Ingredients

60 ml ( 2 oz ) White Rum
60 ml ( 2 oz ) Pineapple Juice
22.5 ml ( 0.75 oz ) Orange Juice
30 ml ( 1 oz ) Coconut Liqueur

How to do it

  1. Pour White Rum, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice & Coconut Liqueur into the Shaker using a Jigger for precision
  2. Add ice cubes
  3. Shake Well
  4. Fill up the Cocktail Glass with ice cubes
  5. Strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne Strainer

Crushed Ice vs Cubes: What’s Best for The Yellow Potion?

Crushed ice makes this tropical drink colder, faster and more diluted.

Prefer a lighter sip? Use crushed ice.

Want it stronger and more rum-forward? Stick with regular cubes or pebbled ice.

Choose your chill based on how intense (or laid-back) you want your potion to be.
