Gin and Sin Cocktail – A Citrus-Forward Classic with a Naughty Twist
Looking for a cocktail that’s bold, citrusy, and a little bit cheeky? The Gin and Sin has you covered.
With a bright mix of gin, fresh juices, and a touch of grenadine, this Prohibition-era classic is perfect for when you want something that’s both elegant and playful. Let’s shake it up.
" Gin and Sin "
When did
this cocktail get invented ?
The Gin and Sin cocktail dates back to the roaring 1920s, a time when gin reigned supreme and bartenders weren’t afraid to mix things up.
While the exact creator remains unknown, this cocktail quickly found favor thanks to its tart citrus notes and subtle sweetness from grenadine.
Unlike other drinks that have evolved over time, the Gin and Sin has stayed remarkably consistent. Always relying on the bright trio of gin, lemon, and grenadine. It’s a well-balanced drink with just enough edge to make you feel a little rebellious, without crossing the line.
Whether you’re reviving a classic or discovering it for the first time, this one’s worth sipping slowly.
Here's how you can do it yourself
Ingredients
60 ml ( 2 oz ) Gin
30 ml ( 1 oz ) Orange Juice
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) Simple Syrup
7.5 ml ( 0.25 oz ) Grenadine
Half Lemon Squeezed
Orange & Lemon Slice Muddled
Garnish : Orange Twist
How to do it
- Drop a Lemon & Orange slice into the Cobbler Shaker
- Add Simple Syrup on top of them & Muddle Hard
- Pour in the Gin, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice & Grenadine using a Jigger for precision
- Add ice cubes
- Double strain the mix into the Cocktail Glass
- Garnish with an orange twist
Skál !
When to Muddle Hard vs. Gently?
When muddling ingredients like mint or basil, go easy. You’re extracting oils, not smashing leaves.
But with citrus slices like orange or lemon, you’ll want to muddle hard and long to really release those juices and essential oils.
For the Gin and Sin, don’t hold back, press those slices like you mean it!
