Buck Fizz Cocktail Recipe

Orange Champagne Cocktail inside a flute champagne glass

Buck Fizz Cocktail Recipe

You have probably had a lot of champagne in your days, but have you tried it with orange ?

" Buck Fizz "

History of this cocktail

This drink was named after London’s Buck’s Club,

It first appeared back in the 1920s when it was first served by a barman named Malachy McGarry.

The original recipe which is the one we are about to do, is made with one part orange juice and two parts champagne in the glass ( stirred or layered, whichever you prefer )

It was said that some variations that were done back then included grenadine as an additional ingredient, but we chose to go without it.

Here is how
we did it
Empty Flute Champagne Glass
Ingredients

1/3 Orange Juice
2/3 Champagne

How to do it
  1. Pour orange juice inside the Chopped Flute Glass using the Lion King Pourer until you fill one third of the glass
  2. Slowly layer Champagne using the Classic Bar Spoon all the way up till you fill the glass
Cheers !
How do I layer the Champagne ?

The main idea behind layering liquids is to pour them slowly over each other without having the desired liquid dive into the other one by mistake.

Surely there is science behind layering and you will need to know which ingredient is heavier then the other, otherwise your plan won’t work out !

In this case, we used a classic bar spoon and by holding it right on top of the orange juice, we proceeded to pour the Champagne on top of the spoon having it slowly drip onto the Orange Juice. It is quite easy once you get the hang of it !

What’s your favorite method for layering cocktails ?
