" AMF "

When
did this drink become popular ?

The AMF cocktail emerged in the 1980s as a colorful, stronger twist on the famous Long Island Iced Tea.

While the Long Island blends vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec, and cola, the AMF swaps triple sec for vibrant blue curacao and replaces cola with refreshing 7 Up, giving it that signature bright blue hue.

The name “AMF” is short for “Adios Mother…,” a cheeky nod to the drink’s potent kick that often bids farewell to your senses after a few sips. It’s a favorite for those who want a fun, fruity, yet strong cocktail to light up any celebration.

What’s the Difference Between Cocktails and Mixed Drinks?

A mixed drink is any beverage made by combining at least two ingredients, simple as that. It could be spirits, juice, soda — anything mixed together.

A cocktail traditionally refers to a more specific kind of mixed drink that includes a balance of liquors, sweeteners, bitters, and water (or ice). It’s all about creating a harmonious flavor experience.

Today, the line between the two has blurred. Most drinks with multiple ingredients are called cocktails, even if they don’t include bitters or sweeteners.

In short: All cocktails are mixed drinks, but not every mixed drink qualifies as a cocktail. It really depends on the complexity and variety of ingredients.
