Long Beach Iced Tea: A Fruity Twist on a Boozy Classic
This right here folks is what we call a “ stealthy drink “ ( you be enjoying it too much until you don’t know what’s going on 😂 )
The long beach ice tea is one of the many variations of the well-known Long Island iced tea, the main difference between them is substituting Cola for Cranberry juice.
The recipe is quite simple even though it’s a little bit on the bigger side. But then again It might also be one of the tastiest “ tea “ drinks you have ever had !
" Long Beach Iced Tea "
Origin of the original cocktail (Long Island Iced Tea)
Honestly here we go again with the confusing histories of cocktails. There’s two different sides here one from Long Island, Tennessee and one from Long Island, New York ( Let the battle begin ? )
One named Robert “ Rosebud “ Claimed to be the inventor of this recipe in 1972 while working at the Oak Beach Inn on Long Island, New York.
The opposite part is claimed to be invented in the 1920s during Prohibition in the United States by “ Old Man Bishop “ in as you guessed, Kingsport, Tennessee.
The recipe you’re going to see us do here is the final recent version of the drink and not the original one that was created ( it was tweaked quite a lot and there’s way too many variations for this cocktail )
The one we are doing is called “ Long Beach Iced Tea “ and here’s how we do it!
Ingredients
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) Gin
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) Tequila
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) Vodka
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) White Rum
15 ml ( 0.5 oz ) Triple sec
30 ml ( 1 oz ) Simple Syrup
Half Lemon Squeezed
Top up Cranberry Juice
Garnish : Dried Cherry & Mint Leaves on an Umbrella Cocktail Pick
How to do it
- Add ice into the Shaker
- Pour in the Gin, Tequila, Vodka, White Rum, Triple Sec & Simple Syrup, using a Jigger
- Squeeze half a lemon inside the Shaker
- Shake Well
- Fill up the Glass with crushed ice
- Strain the cocktail into the glass using a Strainer
- Top up with Cranberry Juice & Garnish with a dried cherry and mint leaves on an umbrella cocktail pick
Gesondheid !
Substitution Tip: Feel free to top up with Cola instead of Cranberry (You’ll have the original Long Island Iced Tea )
How to stir: Lightly grab on to the spoon in the middle using your thumb and forefinger. Using your pinch on the spoon as a pivot only, begin to push and pull the spoon away from and toward your body using your ring and middle fingers. As you do this it will just naturally guide the spoon around the interior of the glass in a circular motion (it takes some practice, but you will get used to it!)
