How to do a Monkey Gland Cocktail – Recipe & Tutorial

First thing we have to say is you will not expect the idea behind this cocktail’s name

" Monkey Gland "

What is
the history behind this cocktail ?

The Monkey Gland dates back to the 1920s as it was created by the popular Harry MacElhone, which was the owner of Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, France.

It was named after the idea that grafting monkey testicle into humans would increase longevity ( but you didn’t expect that one coming ! )

But wait, it’s actually an amazing cocktail ! You will surely love the taste of Gin, Orange Juice, Grenadine & Absinthe blended together.

Here's the equipment we used to make it
Ingredients

50 ml ( 1.66 oz ) Gin
30 ml ( 1 oz ) Orange Juice
1 Dash of Absinthe
2 Drops of Grenadine

Garnish : Dried Orange Wheel

How to do it
  1. Add some ice cubes into the Blossoming Cobbler Shaker using the Stainless Steel Ice Scoop
  2. Pour the Gin, Orange Juice, Absinthe & Grenadine, into the shaker using the Lucent Jigger
  3. Shake Well
  4. Place a large ice cube into the Drunk Martini Glass
  5. Strain the cocktail into the glass
  6. Garnish with a Dried Orange Wheel & insert a matching orange straw
Sei Gesund !

Is the Cobbler Shaker’s Built in Strainer Enough ?

Whenever you’re preparing a cocktail that is made from clear spirits and liquids and you’re shaking with large quality ice cubes, your cocktail will not have smaller pieces that require delicate straining so you could just use a Cobbler Shaker’s built in strainer to do the job.

However if there are muddled fruits or herbs inside the mix or maybe even if you just want an ultra clear texture on the resulting cocktail, then you should use a Fine Mesh Strainer and Double Strain the mix into the glass.

What do you think about the story and the taste of the Monkey Gland Cocktail ?
